Covington, TN, July 14, 2009 - Manitowoc Foodservice announced today an expansion of their Delfield facility located in Covington, TN. The company plans to produce a new product line at the Delfield plant and the expanded operations will create 90 jobs by the end of 2009 and 30 more in 2010.
The Delfield plant currently employs 178 people. They produce and market a reach-in-line of refrigeration food service equipment for restaurants, hotels, and institutions. A new scientific product line to be produced at the plant will be for medical and laborator use.
"I'm pleased we're able to work with our partners at the local level to help an existing Tennessee company grow and create new jobs," said Matt Kisber, Commissioner, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. "We've worked hard to develop a nationally recognized business climate in Tennessee and our success is evident in the fact that more than half of the new jobs created in our state come from the growth of companies already doing business here."
"We are pleased Manitowoc has the confidence in our local workforce to bring this new line and these skilled jobs to the Delfield plant here in Covington," said Covington Mayor David Gordon. "The city and county have worked with the state and TVA to support this expansion."
As part of the proposal made by the State of Tennessee, Tipton County and Covington, Manitowoc will qualify for a number of statutory incentives, including FastTrack job training assistance for new employees hired at the facility and those requiring new skills. In addition, Manitowoc will qualify for Jobs Tax Credits based on the amount of capital invested in the expansion and the number of new jobs created. The expansion also qualifies for TVA's enhanced growth credit, which will be applied to the company's electric power cost.
